Meet Santa's Reindeer

You guys. I cannot tell you how much fun I had creating these reindeer. When I had the idea, I thought that it would be cute and everything, but as each one came to life, so did their personalities. Allow me to introduce you to each of them:

Meet Dasher.

He was first out of the gate on the studio table, and rightly so. He’s the first to be named in the song Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and he’s also the fastest reindeer in the bunch. For the holiday season, he’s taking part in the Reindeer Run and he’s all dressed up and ready to go. He’s got his number, his MP3 player, his bluetooth earbuds and his super fast red sneakers. I imagine that he drinks a lot of protein shakes and enjoys a nice kale salad when he’s not training.

Meet Dancer.

Dancer is the sweetest little reindeer, and if truth be told, she might be my favorite. She has a squeaky little voice and loves to dance wherever she goes. She NEVER takes off her tutu (despite her parent’s best efforts) and is one of those reindeer who is just lost, but quite happy, in her own little world – always humming, twirling and wearing pink.

Next up is Prancer.

If he’s not Dancer’s dad, then he’s at least her cool uncle. Prancer is also a dancer, and a debonnaire one at that. He prefers tap and jazz dancing, but he’s pretty snappy at waltzes too. Prancer is usually the life of the party and has never met a stranger. He tips his hat to everyone on the street and enjoys a rousing game of poker on Friday night. He loves a good fois gras and single malt whiskies.

Meet Vixen.

Vixen is not the kind of girl to mess with. She knows who she is and she does not care what you think of her. She oozes charm and charisma and has a beautiful singing voice. Mistletoe is her signature accessory as are her red stiletto heels. She loves a good martini (dry) and rarely gets up before 11am. She loves fresh flowers and has a soft spot for the elderly. She visits her Grandma every Sunday. Vixen is a complex reindeer.

Say hello to Comet.

When he’s not on the ice, Comet can often be found running with Dasher. Comet’s mom often jokes that he could ice skate before he could run. He’s out on the ice as much as possible. Comet is super friendly and will help anyone in need. He organizes an annual food drive for the forest animals and he laughs at his own jokes. Comet’s favorite drink is hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.

Introducing Cupid.

Cupid played roller derby in high school but had to give it up after a bad knee injury. She’s strong and opinionated but has the sweetest and kindest heart you’ll ever met. She loves everyone and shares that love wherever she goes. Eternally optimistic, she’ll find the silver lining in even the darkest of situations. She loves Joan Jett and reruns of The Monkees.

Give a warm welcome to Donder.

His birth name is Dunder, but with an IQ of 250, he felt that Donder was a more becoming variation. Donder can always be found with a book in his hand, which makes sense since curates the collection at the national library of the North Pole. Donder believes that everything has its place and that all garments should be tailored and pressed. He enjoys herbal teas every afternoon and loves to take slow walks in the early morning. Donder might be my second favorite reindeer behind Dancer, with whom he always shares the latest books on ballet.

Meet Blitzen.

Blitzen is the teenager of the bunch. His body is still trying to catch up to his legs and neck, but his gangliness is one of his many charms. Blitzen, or Blitz as his friends call him, loves all sorts of sports and reindeer games. He’s always wearing his signature “B” shoes and has a pair in every color. Blitzen can be shy, but once he gets to know you, he never stops talking. He loves learning about the weather and has a fascination with lightening in particular.

Last but certainly not least, meet Rudolph.

While you might already know that Rudolph lights the way on Santa’s big night, what you might not know is that Rudolph loves strawberries and playing chess with his dad, Donder. While he doesn’t fully follow in his dad’s footsteps, he does like to read comic books. He’s usually outside playing and is sometimes caught throwing snowballs at Dasher as he runs by.

All of these reindeer are original watercolor designs that have been printed on cardstock and hand-assembled with silver brads. They are 10-13” tall and have 6-9 points of articulation. These reindeer will bring a little extra joy into your holiday celebrations – you can even make up your own stories about each of them as you pose them in all different ways. The full collection can be found in the shop. You can buy one, just a few or the entire collection.
